You can also see a Nurse here for your Long Term Condition review (Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, IHD, Stroke, AF & Heart Failure) or a cervical smear test or contraceptive pill check. 

6.30pm - 8.00pm weekdays or 10.00am - 4.00pm Saturdays

Wigan GP Alliance provide cytology appointments every weekend from 10:00 – 16:00.

The sessions are held at either  Ashton Medical Practice or Pennygate Medical Centre.

Think Wellbeing

Think Wellbeing in Wigan offers free NHS therapy for adults aged 16 and over with common mental health problems like anxiety, depression, panic, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. Some of the signs of these problems include:

• Not wanting to do things you used to enjoy, like hobbies or seeing friends

• Feeling down or hopeless about the future

• Having trouble sleeping or sleeping more than usual

• Feeling tired or having little energy

• Not being able to stop worrying • Feeling restless and agitated

• Feeling afraid all the time, like something bad is going to happen

Think Wellbeing in Wigan These are all normal from time to time but if they last for longer than a couple of weeks, it’s probably best to seek some help. If any of these sound familiar, Think Wellbeing is here to help.

Talking Therapies, Wigan

Spending time worrying about your future, or no longer enjoying life as much as you used to can often feel like part of a physical illness. It does not have to be. Whether your illness is diabetes, COPD, chronic pain, heart disease, cancer or you have poor health, or supporting someone who does, you can learn how to manage your feelings. Talking Therapies offers free NHS therapy choices to people aged 16 and over, who are registered with a Wigan GP.

We’ll work with you on your own goals, whether that’s cutting down your drug or alcohol use, stopping completely or just getting a bit of advice.
