You can also see a Nurse here for your Long Term Condition review (Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, IHD, Stroke, AF & Heart Failure) or a cervical smear test or contraceptive pill check. 

6.30pm - 8.00pm weekdays or 10.00am - 4.00pm Saturdays

Wigan GP Alliance provide cytology appointments every weekend from 10:00 – 16:00.

The sessions are held at either  Ashton Medical Practice or Pennygate Medical Centre.

Clinics & Services

We provide a personal and confidential service when you are not well and try to keep you in better health through various health promotion activities. We are also responsible for the planned care of any long-term illnesses you may have.

We offer the following clinics:

Child Health Surveillance Clinics are held every Monday Morning between 11:15am and 12:15pm for 6 to 8 week baby checks. You can discuss your child’s feeding or other problems with the doctor or the nurse in clinic. You are advised to ensure maximum protection from disease by Immunisation and Vaccination.

Family Planning Advice on oral contraception (pill), Depot form contraceptives, IUD (coil) and barrier method (cap) is available.

Ante-natal and Post-natal Clinics are held on Thursday afternoons between 2.00pm and 3.30pm.


button Long Term Illness Clinicsglucometer1

Clinics are held for long-term illness. Such as Coronary Heart Disease, Strokes, Asthma, Bronchitis, Epilepsy, Mental Health, Hypertension and Hypothyroidism. Patients are encouraged to attend periodically or at least annually on their birthday for their regular check ups.


button Newly Registered Patients

All newly registered patients will be asked to have a consultation with the Practice Nurse or Healthcare Assistant soon after registering.


button Well Person Clinic

All other patients who have not been seen in surgery over the last 3 years or are aged between 40 and 74 will be offered a health check.
